Trolling

Trolling is a very effective method of fishing where the boat is continuously moving at approximately 5 knots.  When trolling, Capt. Tony keeps a keen eye on both the Sonar and GPS.  He trolls the boat over multiple wrecks, reefs and underwater mounds.  These areas hold baitfish and in turn predator fish.

Commonly caught fish using this method includes Dolphin, Tuna, Sailfish, Bonita, Kingfish and Barracuda. Baits and teasers are pulled behind the boat while the boat is trolling.  Some of our favorite baits to troll are Ballyhoo, Strip baits, and Split-tail Mullet.

You wont find any pre-rigged store bought baits on the Showtime. We take pride in our baits and we custom rig all the baits prior to your charter.bait
In addition to naked baits (baits with no skirts) we use expensive lures in front of the natural baits. These lures and skirts have proven their effectiveness year after year.

On average, we troll 4 to 8 top baits.  These baits skip across the sea surface emulating Flying-fish, which is one of the natural bait found in this area.

In addition to the top water baits, we also troll a deep running bait. This bait usually is trolled using a planner rod that runs 40 to 50 feet below the surface.

We also pull hook-less squid teasers tempting the game fish to bite close to the boat. its such a thrill to watch a sailfish trying to eat a teaser to finally taking a close by bait!
